TOPIC 12 · Refrigerated Loads
Understand Refrigerated-Load Instructions
Refrigerated transport requires distinguishing shipment requirements, operating modes and different temperature readings; one display value cannot describe the whole load. Follow a driver collecting produce through preparation, mode confirmation and handoff records.

ONE QUICK QUESTIONReturn-air and measured product temperatures differ. How should you report them?
Take another look: Return air, supply air, set point and product measurements are different. Accurate labels let the responsible people assess whether action is needed.

Vocabulary for this topic 12
The example introduces 6 core terms. Explore the others by situation; select a term to read its definition.
Preparation and operating modes
Use the instructions for this shipment.
Reefer冷藏车
A temperature-controlled trailer for freight such as food or pharmaceuticals. Equipment may cool and, on some units, heat. Confirm the setpoint, operating mode, and power arrangements using the shipment instructions and equipment manual.
Full entry & related termsTemperature Setpoint温控设定值
The target temperature entered into a refrigeration controller. It is not the measured cargo temperature and does not guarantee uniform temperature throughout the trailer. A correct setpoint alone does not establish acceptable cargo temperature.
Full entry & related termsPre-cooling预冷CORE
Preparing a trailer or product to a specified temperature before loading; clarify which is being cooled.
Full entry & related termsTrailer Washout车厢清洗
Cleaning of a trailer interior; sanitation and documentation requirements depend on prior cargo and the next shipment.
Full entry & related termsContinuous Run连续运行CORE
A refrigeration mode involving continuous operation, commonly to maintain airflow; exact behavior depends on the unit.
Full entry & related termsStart-Stop Mode启停模式CORE
A mode that automatically stops and restarts a refrigeration unit under its control logic. Names and behavior vary by manufacturer.
Full entry & related termsReadings and airflow
Air readings are not internal product measurements.
Pulp Temperature货物内部温度CORE
An internal product temperature measurement, especially in produce handling, distinct from air readings or the set point.
Full entry & related termsSupply Air送风
Air delivered from the refrigeration unit into the cargo space; its temperature is not a direct product measurement.
Full entry & related termsReturn Air回风CORE
Air returning from the cargo space to the unit. Its temperature describes part of the airflow, not every product.
Full entry & related termsAir Chute风道
A duct or structure directing air through a refrigerated trailer. Damage or obstruction can affect circulation.
Full entry & related termsStates and records
Identify the mode, time and sensor location.
Defrost Cycle除霜循环
A cycle that removes frost from the evaporator. Its duration and controls depend on the refrigeration unit.
Full entry & related termsTemperature Recorder温度记录仪CORE
A device that stores temperature readings over time, also called a data logger. Sensor placement affects what the record represents.
