Before leaving California, align the full route, weather, vehicle conditions and credentials with the delivery plan. Official sources were checked on October 13, 2026. The checklists and phrases are original teaching material; specific restrictions, permits and roadside directions still govern the trip.
Official basis: Caltrans transportation permits cover state highways under its jurisdiction. Local roads may require permissions from their responsible authorities. Meet each permit’s route, vehicle and operating conditions; a state permit is not permission for every road. Caltrans permits · Permit FAQ
Practical checklist: Obtain the current loaded dimensions, gross and axle weights, axle spacing, trailer configuration and overhang. Have the person responsible for routing and permits check every relevant state, bridge and local road. Gross weight or a previous trip’s permit alone is insufficient. Match permit dates, designated routes, travel windows and escort conditions to the plan. Changes to loading, equipment or routing may require revised permission; resolve uncertainty before entering the restricted section.
Useful phrase: “Do these loaded dimensions and axle weights match every permit and route restriction for this trip?” / “这次装载后的尺寸和轴重,是否符合全程许可与路线限制?”
