A provider offers to come out. Which charges should I confirm?

At a breakdown, address people’s safety and traffic hazards before costs or delivery schedules. These checklists prepare you to communicate; they do not replace directions from responders. Official sources consulted: October 13, 2026.

Practical checklist: For a non-emergency where you can choose the provider, confirm the call-out charge, mileage or hourly rate, minimum, after-hours charges, parts, payment method and who may authorize the work. For towing, confirm the destination, storage charges and release conditions. “Come and take a look” may leave important expectations unresolved.

Ask for the scope in a message or work order, and clarify additional work before authorizing it. Keep the provider’s name, work order, times and receipts. Follow directions during emergency clearance or law-enforcement-arranged recovery; do not delay hazard removal to compare quotes. This checklist does not decide whether a fee is lawful or guarantee a fixed final price.

Useful phrase: “Please confirm the call-out fee, rate, minimum charge and towing destination before dispatch.” “请在出车前确认出车费、收费标准、最低收费和拖车目的地。”

The checklists and phrases are teaching examples. Forum repair shortcuts and individual anecdotes are not presented as general rules. Refer injuries, hazardous cargo, liability disputes and clearance to operate to the appropriate professionals.
