Driver FAQ: Where to Check Hours, Dispatch Details and Delivery Paperwork
Use fleet-confirmed dispatch instructions to verify the load ID, pickup and delivery stops, full address, truck entrance, appointment date, time zone and required numbers. Keep estimated arrival times distinct from confirmed appointments. If messages conflict, send both to dispatch and check the updated instructions after the final plan is verified.
Before driving, review actual duty records alongside the trip plan. Where federal freight HOS rules apply, 49 CFR § 395.3 limits driving; check driving time, the driving window and cumulative hours. California intrastate operations require a separate check of applicable rules. ELD users must review records for accuracy and completeness and perform required corrections and certification. Accepting a load does not establish available hours.
After delivery, check the required POD and attachments. A signed BOL may be acceptable for some loads; follow the shipment's actual requirements. Verify load references, location, pages and signatures. Check photographs for completeness and readability, send them to the designated task or contact, and identify missing items. Preserve original signatures and annotations. Upload confirmation alone cannot guarantee approval or payment.
Resolve appointment differences through dispatch, document problems against the original paperwork, and log errors through the applicable ELD process. Under 49 CFR § 395.30, edits and additions must follow device limitations and include annotations. Drivers confirm or reject carrier-proposed changes to submitted records and recertify and resubmit as required. Do not erase original information or invent duty status to match dispatch times.
CTACA partner VectAxiom's VAX Fleet product page describes dispatch, driver trip information and BOL/POD submission. Its current Safety & ELD page says existing-device compatibility and how logs appear for the fleet are confirmed during fleet setup. Ask which records your fleet actually uses and where to review them. Multiple record types may share one interface, but their sources and responsibilities still need separate checks. Identify unresolved issues and the next responsible contact.
